Using variations of tempo and time signatures, as well as unique chord structures and rhythms, T-Bone and Yasu’s music creates interesting and original textures. Playing beyond a “guitar and a box”, they tackle arrangements that might normally be reserved for full bands.

“ I met Yasu when he showed up at a gig I was playing with a box. As he didn’t speak English and I don’t speak Japanese, he just showed me the box made noise and sat down with me. I had never seen anything like it in my life…he made this box sound like a drum kit and then some.. hahaha.. From the first chord we played together, we both knew it was something special. Truly, this is a situation where we use the language of music to communicate on stage. Frankly, I don’t know how we do it sometimes. I think this is something that is unique, as we never play anything the same way twice, and yet sophisticated and removed from a ‘jam band’. I don’t know how he follows what I do. I can switch to an odd meter and he has yet to ever miss a beat.”
